Optimisation

In the market it is well known that data centres, especially those that are a few years old, are rarely operating at their peak performance. In the current market where energy costs are steadily rising, this inefficiency causes the client to pay more than is necessary to run a centre. This reduces profit levels and in certain instances makes a site less viable.

A detailed survey of the complete site is carried out after which a schedule of recommended work is produced giving clear sequences and priorities in which the work should be completed. It should be noted that the efficiencies of a particular data hall could be made worse if all the elements in one sequence are not carried out. A client may select all or only part of our recommendation but it is important to understand that related elements need to be completed in one operation in order to achieve the required optimisation.

Optimisation

We are working closely with many clients now under our ‘Fix What You Have First’, initiative to help them get the best out of such facilities.

We offer a full advice and implementation service that clearly lays out measures to optimise the site’s critical cooling ability. This starts with simple solutions and goes through to some major re-commissioning dependant on the individual requirements.

In all but very rare instances, this optimisation reduces the ‘at rack’ cooling load leading to significant reductions in energy and plant usage with the monetary savings that this generates.
