Andy – Services Director (Data Centres)

With more than 15 years in the UK data centre market, Andy Putnam, Services Director, brings a breadth and depth of experience that covers all aspects of the data centre lifecycle.

Before joining Skanska in 2024, Andy held roles covering both client side and general contractor delivery across multiple small- and large-scale-global projects. His expertise covers critical infrastructure project design, delivery, operational support and data centre management.

One of Andy's career highlights has been delivering a global BMS infrastructure project for a major insurance provider. The international implementation involved in this project afforded him the opportunity of working across cultures and experiencing multiple data centre facilities.

As Services Director for the UK data centre market, Andy's focus is to ensure Skanska is leading the charge to embed sustainability and decarbonisation into the industry, and, helping the sector meet the growing energy, efficiency and carbon challenges it faces with surging demand and the drive for net zero.

Andy commented “Skanska is at the forefront of sustainability and carbon reduction, demonstrated by our ambition to reach net zero by 2045. My goal is to continue driving us towards being an industry leader in sustainability”.

“Using Skanska's Carbon Management Systems we can help people identify their carbon responsibilities and show how these relate across a whole range of processes. We are currently working with a large portfolio of clients in decarbonising their buildings and facilities”.

“Our tried and tested carbon management tools help deliver the lowest possible carbon outcome for projects and for our customers. By understanding the data, we can better support our data centre customers in cutting their emissions, delivering solutions to champion energy efficiency, and taking radical steps towards a sustainable future”.
