Meet our people – Clive

Clive's career began in building supplies companies and on construction sites, where he discovered a passion for buildings and their functionality. He then transitioned into Soft Facilities Management (FM), a field focused on services that ensure the well-being of buildings and their occupants. Over the next decade, Clive excelled in managing commercial outcomes through continuous process improvement and people development.

Clive's association with Skanska began as a self-employed consultant. He was impressed by the company's commitment to employee support and a culture of openness. This experience led him to join Skanska as a permanent employee at Northwood Headquarters in January 2020.

In his initial role, Clive developed Soft FM services to ensure success in contractual Soft FM Benchmarking activities, collaborating with clients and customers to ensure competitive service delivery. Gradually, he expanded his expertise to support project teams, enhancing his knowledge in Hard FM (maintenance and repair of physical structures) and capital works (major construction or renovation projects) tailored to tier 1 defence sites.

Career highlights

Clive's tenure at Skanska has been marked by rapid personal development and career progression, with three roles in five years. He highlights securing the last seven years of Soft FM services through Benchmarking as a significant achievement, which brought improved value to clients and customers while embedding the Skanska team at Northwood Headquarters until the end of the PFI.

Current Role

As of August 2023, Clive served as Project Director at Northwood Headquarters. His role involved client and customer engagement, ensuring contract obligations were met, and developing workforce skills to adapt to evolving client capabilities. He led a cultural shift towards greater collaboration and joint problem-solving with clients.

In November 2024, Clive took on the role of Sector Director, overseeing non-healthcare PFI contracts, including Defence and Education sites. This strategic role allows him to influence sector strategy and business decisions while providing leadership to his team.

Working in Defence

Clive admires the defence culture's discipline and morale, finding inspiration in their willingness to engage and contribute. Skanska's commitment to quality services align well with Defence values. Supporting Tier 1 security sites like Northwood Headquarters and Main Building - Whitehall requires a high level of awareness of Defence protocols and secure working behaviours. Clive takes pride in ensuring uninterrupted operations for military personnel through meticulous service delivery.

What Clive values about Skanska

Clive finds great joy in working with Skanska employees, having formed lifelong friendships and gained respect at all levels. He appreciates the company's culture that encourages engagement and values opinions from every level. Skanska's zero-tolerance policy towards safety simplifies managing team expectations.
