Meet Saverio
With three decades in construction, Saverio Pasetto, Skanska’s Head of Façades received the silver medal in recognition of his significant industry contribution and his work to raise the profile of the profession.
Saverio has provided engineering input for projects both in the UK and globally, helping to shape London’s skyline with the iconic Heron Tower and The Scalpel (52 Lime Street), as well as supporting technically complex international projects across Europe, the Nordics and the USA, including a prestigious state of the art HQ in California.
Ruth Carter, CIBSE CEO said: “Saverio has played a crucial role as Chair of the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE), advocating for its recognition as a significant institution that highlights the importance of façade engineering in the construction industry. His efforts have strengthened SFE's relationship within the broader CIBSE network, dedicating considerable time to developing governing principles for SFE within CIBSE.”
Having brought construction experience from roles in Italy before undertaking a number of significant roles at Skanska, Saverio honed his specialism after achieving a master’s degree in façade engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer with CIBSE, of which he is a Fellow, and the Chair of the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT). He is also a Fellow of the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE) of which he has been Chair.
“I was supported into the specialism when Skanska sponsored my MSc and became very passionate about it over time – as I started to take on more responsibilities for the projects I was involved with, that played an important role, demanding more knowledge,” said Saverio.
“What I enjoy most is how diverse and dynamic my role and the discipline are! I get involved at all stages of a project and may look at a façade concept, meet suppliers and support resources, discuss testing on a live project and devise business strategies all in the same day!
“I have also really enjoyed my involvement with many Skanska projects outside the UK which I have provided technical support to during the peer review process. This included being seconded part-time to Skanska’s team in the Czech Republic, where I worked as a non-executive director of our façade division for nearly two years.”
Saverio was presented with the award at the prestigious CIBSE President’s Awards Dinner and Award Ceremony on Friday 11 October.
