Beyond construction

The power of building information modelling is transforming facilities management. Drawing on our expertise in the design and construction industry, we are developing and implementing pioneering solutions.

Using 3D models

We work with clients, designers, architects, developers, facilities managers and end-users to create 3D models of facilities. These models can be used for a range of activities, from site orientations to tracking the location of portable equipment. The information can also be exported into facilities management (FM) IT systems.

3D models also allow office and site teams to communicate via tablets and smart phones. Engineers can receive electronic work requests in seconds on their mobile devices and immediately access information about the tools and parts needed to complete tasks.

Functional modelling

Virtual reality (VR) technologies, such as VR headsets and immersive VR caves, bring to life how proposed designs will respond to the needs of our clients.

These immersive models are becoming an integral part of our business. We use models created in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and 3DS Max.

Involving FM at design stage

Data created during design and construction is synced with the operations data held in FM IT systems and made accessible to personnel, ensuring they are fully equipped with all available information. This enables productive, cost effective maintenance through the building lifecycle.

We engage with our FM and utilities maintenance teams who contribute their expertise during the design phase. These personnel also advise on the data that needs to be captured during the construction phase so that all equipment can be easily and correctly maintained.

The right technology at the right time

The data we capture during construction can be integrated with computer added facilities management (CAFM) systems. When digital tag and track technology is deployed at the design phase too, additional information can be provided such as on how components were stored pre-construction, and information on legally required maintenance.

More considered handovers

We provide all handover information gradually at agreed points throughout construction. This gives the teams responsible for facilities management time to become familiar with the systems and components, ensuring peak operational performance from the very first day.
