Teams across Skanska took part in a volunteering week with activities arranged that supported local charities, schools and communities.
During the week, Skanska’s teams took part in activities arranged to support The Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day in London – which took place on 27 September. Activities included the Tour de City – static cycle challenge, quiz night and treasure hunt. Other activities that took place during the lend-a-hand week included litter picking, visiting local schools to give career advice, tidying up garden areas at charities close to our projects, as well as helping to sort out clothes for charity shops, labelling and hanging these ready to be sold.
Steve Holbrook, Managing Director at Skanska, explained: “Our volunteering week is just a snapshot of how we’re working to create value for the communities surrounding our projects.
“Our mission is to shape sustainable places to support healthy living beyond our lifetime – and that includes working with local people to create a positive impact for as many of them as we can, as well as constructing spaces for people to work, learn and live.”
Skanska provides all employees with a paid day to spend on volunteering activities to support a cause of their choice.
