Skanska UK has signed a contract with Baola Properties Limited, c/o Old Park Lane Management, for construction plus mechanical and electrical engineering services for the redevelopment of 7 Millbank, London.
Skanska will lead the construction of the new nine-storey office with two basement levels, 126,000 sqft of office space, including amenities on the ground floor and terraces on the upper floors.
The original stone clad building was constructed in two phases between 1915 and 1929. The work will include reconstruction of the original façade, which has been carefully deconstructed and stored before being rebuilt into the new structure to maintain and enhance the building’s historic character.
The team at Millbank will be actively reducing, diligently monitoring, and transparently reporting carbon emissions throughout the construction process to ensure sustainable progress.
Terry Muckian, Managing Director for Skanska UK’s building arm, said: “We’re delighted to take on this project and look forward to using our expertise to bring the building up-to-date and restore it to its full glory, while making it a sustainable workplace for the future.”
The building is targeting environmental standards to achieve BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum and Design for Performance 5* accreditations.
