Kvaerner Construction has been awarded £22 million contract by the Portman Building Society to construct its new headquarters in Bournemouth.
The ten storey building in the centre of the town will have two basement floors and a car park. Kvaerner’s project includes building reinforced concrete substructures and basements; reinforced concrete cores and a steel framed superstructure. Glazed curtain walling, natural stone and brick cladding and a copper clad roof also feature on the project.
Internally, the building will be finished to a high quality with suspended ceilings and raised access floors, mechanical and electrical services including air conditioning, a lift, a kitchen and restaurant.
The project is expected to start in April with construction due to be completed by the end of 2000.
