Press release 02/08/2013 07:09 CET

On 24 July, the civils team attended the Network Rail Partnership Awards and picked up two trophies for the Borough Viaduct project: Best Large Project and the Heritage award. This takes the number of Network Rail Partnership Awards won by this project up to six.

Double winners at Network Rail Awards

This is the fifth year that Network Rail has held these awards, which are designed to reward the great partnerships that exist within the rail industry. Project director Susan Fitzpatrick and the team attended the ceremony at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London.

The judges said:

“The Borough Viaduct project team completed a major civil engineering and building project in a central London site which is rich in cultural heritage.

“The key to the safe and successful delivery of the project was engaging the workforce and minimising the impact on the community.

“The project operated under a Collaborative Planning system and involved one of the first Network Rail contractors to gain BS11000 accreditation.

“Borough Viaduct is an excellent example of the integration of the best of the past with modern railway facilities, while involving the community in the process.

“The result is a fabulous light space in keeping with the market it replaced and using many of the elements from that previous structure.”
