Kvaerner Construction, which announces its year end figures for 1999 tomorrow (Tuesday 22 February), has secured contracts worth more than £65 million in three different countries during the last two weeks.
In India the company has won a £6.5 million job to construct a 300-metre long jetty near Mumbai. The win follows the successful completion of a similar jetty at the same site last year. Kvaerner Cementation India has also become the first Indian company to achieve the internationally-recognised ISO 9002 certificate for port and harbour structures underlining its position as market leader in marine projects.
A £4 million construction management contract for the extension to a fibre optics production plant in China has been secured by Hong Kong-based company Gammon Construction.
In the UK Kvaerner Construction has won six contracts. It has a £9 million deal to re-deck the Dartford River Crossing’s west tunnel. This follows the successful completion of the east tunnel’s re-decking three months ahead of schedule.
A Framework Agreement has also been signed with Anglian Water. The deal means that Kvaerner is now one of the utility’s preferred contractors and can bid for a share of its £1.4 billion capital programme which is worth approximately £10 million a year for the next three years.
Kvaerner Rashleigh Weatherfoil has secured its biggest ever job in the retail sector. It has signed a major partnering deal worth over £13 million to install mechanical, electrical and public health services at a shopping centre in Basingstoke.
Clark & Fenn, Kvaerner’s specialist ceiling and plasterwork company, has won two contracts in central London. In Fleet Street and at Kvaerner’s Triton Square project, the jobs are jointly worth £3 million.
Piling and ground engineering company Kvaerner Cementation Foundations has won a £1.6 million embankment stabilisation project on the main freight line from London to the Channel Tunnel.
