Friday 20 May saw the official topping out of The Crown Estate’s new headquarters – 16 New Burlington Place, currently being constructed by Skanska on London’s Regent Street.
Officiating at the ceremony, to position the last section of concrete, was Kevin Stimson - IT employee from The Crown Estate whose successful entry to name the meeting rooms in the new HQ after British Monarchs won him the honour of undertaking the construction industry’s traditional event to mark the structural completion of the building.
This important milestone comes just over a year after Skanska began work on the design and construction of the redevelopment project, part of The Crown Estate’s £500 million redevelopment programme on Regent Street to provide 21st Century retail and office accommodation.
Due for completion at the end of this year, the seven-storey New Burlington Place will become the headquarters for The Crown Estate and will also provide new retail units at the lower levels.
