Kvaerner Construction has won a contract of just short of £11 million to design and construct a 4.7km long steam pipeline in Cheshire for PowerGen CHP Limited.
The contract, which is to be completed by the middle of December 1999, is for the design and construction of a twin 50cm diameter steam inter-connector main and an associated 15cm diameter condensate return pipe to be built above ground between two soda ash production sites run by Brunner Mond at Winnington and Lostock in Northwich, Cheshire.
The route the pipeline will take means that a tunnel is needed to take it beneath a River Weaver navigation channel and a 75-metre single span bridge is required to cross a railway line.
Design work on the contract is being carried out by Kvaerner Construction’s sister company, Kvaerner Process.
