Skanska scores twice at Construction Manager of the Year Awards

Two Skanska project managers were honoured at the Construction Manager of the Year Awards at on 1 November.

They took home gold medals for managing the construction of University College Hospital (UCH) Macmillan Cancer Centre in Bloomsbury and All Saints’ Academy in Cheltenham.

Over 1,100 people attended the glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel to celebrate excellence in construction.

John Birch, Project Director at UCH came top in the New Build and Refurbishment, £40 million to £100 million, category for his innovative work and techniques, which offered the client cost certainty and programme advantage at UCH.

John Brennan, Operations Manager, won the New Build and Refurbishment, £23 million to £40 million, category for his exceptional leadership to finish All Saint’s Academy early and within budget.

Skanska’s Colin Davidson was also shortlisted in the New Build and Refurbishment, over £100 million, category for managing the construction of Walsall Manor Hospital.

The awards have 12 categories covering managers on all construction projects from the smallest scale up to the very largest retail and commercial developments. Each category has a gold and silver medal winner with all the gold winners going forward for the final selection of ‘Construction Manager of the Year'.
