Bentley Works gets CE certification

Press release 25/06/2014 16:40 CET

Skanska UK’s Bentley Works has received the CE certification for structural steelwork.

The CE marking system shows that products meet European health, safety and environmental standards. Bentley Works has been certificated to carry out structural steel fabrication in line with British Standard EN 1090-2. From 1 July all structural steelwork done in the UK must have a CE mark.

Cementation Skanska’s workshops at Bentley Works are able to produce a wide range of structural steelwork for clients. It has state-of-the-art welding, rolling and pressing equipment. It also has a series of 20 tonne overhead gantry cranes – enabling it to handle all but the very largest pieces of steelwork.

Bentley Works also has the capacity to produce bespoke steelwork, using special computer numerical control equipment. It has a team of experts to help provide the right solution for clients.

Skanska is investing £12.9 million in redeveloping Bentley Works, with a further £1.3 million coming from a Regional Growth Fund grant. The new Bentley Works will provide a modern workplace for employees, with new office space, an upgraded fabrication shop and a modern workshop environment.

Steve Joynson, Bentley Works Manager, said: “Getting the CE mark is great news. It shows our products meet rigorous European quality and safety standards. This is perfect timing. The redevelopment of the works is right on target, and having this certification gives us the perfect springboard to further develop our external manufacturing business.”
