Kvaerner Construction’s Hong Kong-based associate, Gammon Construction, has been awarded a £42.5m (HK$538.5m) contract to build two 41-storey residential towers in Hong Kong.
Awarded by the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the towers are for phase two of the Po Lam Road Housing Development at Tseung Kwan O.
The Harmony 1-type towers will provide a total of 1,598 units for rent. Gammon Construction will also build an elevated estate road, a seven-metre high noise barrier and will carry out associated landscaping.
The housing blocks will be built using mechanised construction methods including system formwork, precast facades, semi-precast slabs and a tailor made gondola for external finishes and dry-wall construction. Work is due to be completed in September 2000.
Gammon Construction is also currently constructing two similar blocks at the Pak Tin Estate in Sham Shui Po and has successfully completed building contracts at Hing Tung estate and Fanling Area for the housing authority.
