Skanska awarded renewal contract by BT totalling £200 million

Skanska Networks, Skanska UK’s specialist telecommunication and utility network infrastructure provider, has been awarded a renewal contract from British Telecom under its framework agreement.

With a total projected value of £200 million, the renewal contract is for a period of four-years and covers two areas, Yorkshire & Humber and Thames Valley.

Skanska Networks has been managing BT works in these areas over the past four-years and has developed its working relationship with BT over the last 10 years across a number of regions.

Said Mike Putnam, Executive Vice President Skanska UK “Skanska Networks has established itself as a leading player in the provision of External National Installation Telecommunication Services for BT. The successful renewal of this contract underpins our strategy for performance in the areas we choose to do business and understanding our clients needs and those of their customers.

”One of our key focuses is the utilities sector and by performing in this area we have been able to set-out exciting development and growth plans which will enable us to improve the service we provide for our clients.”

Under the agreement, Skanska Networks is one of a number of framework suppliers providing telecom infrastructure services, including civil engineering utility works, underground cabling and jointing works and telecommunication overhead wire rectification works.

Skanska Networks delivers in excess of 50,000 customer orders for BT every year. During the past four years, the company has made significant investment in centralised work, order processing and driving the development of robust work management processes assisting BT in the delivery of its strategy.
