Contract success for new fit-out business

Press release 05/10/2000 00:00 CET

Kvaerner Construction’s recently launched specialist fit-out business, Kontor, has won four prestigious contracts in central London with a combined value of £12 million.

The largest, worth more than £7 million, is to fit out seven storeys of banking and dealing rooms at Minerva House in London Bridge for ANZ Bank and Equitable Life. All mechanical and electrical services will be replaced; raised floors and suspended ceilings constructed; and glazed partitioning and specialist dealers’ equipment installed while existing services are maintained. Carefully planned phasing of the work will enable the building to remain in use throughout the year-long contract.

In Kensington the company is refurbishing and extending a 1930s building to include a new restaurant and nightclub. The building will remain open throughout the £1.7 million, seven-month project.

A fast-track scheme is underway in Crutched Friars in the City where Kontor has just 14 weeks to construct new high quality conference and dining facilities for Jardine Lloyd Thompson. The £1.4 million project is due to be completed in October.

Finally in Watling House, Cannon Street, a repeat contract worth £1 million has been secured with Crestco Ltd to install mechanical and electrical services, glazed partitioning, raised floors and to construct new office and conferencing facilities. Kvaerner Construction previously fitted-out four floors of the complex which it constructed in 1998.

Kontor was launched in the summer to target the fit-out market where Kvaerner Construction already has an established track record with clients including Nike, The Gap, Warner Bros and Reuters.
