We build long-lasting, trusted relationships that deliver
Sustainability and energy reduction
Sustainable, green solutions for our customers
We are recognised throughout the industry for our sustainable approach.
Sustainable Facilities Management Index
Skanska consistently receives a platinum rating from the Sustainable Facilities Management Index (SFMI), which measures the sustainability of facilities management companies.
Platinum is the highest rating that is given by the index and we have received it for six years in a row. We are consistently rated as one of the top three most sustainable firms by the SFMI. The index annually assesses organisations against a range of sustainability criteria.
The latest report also highlights Skanska’s industry-leading low carbon approach, saying: “…only Skanska has fully integrated its supply chain goods and services emissions to its public zero carbon strategy.”
A sustainable approach
A sustainability mindset means we look for ways to reduce energy and make the most efficient use of resources. The earlier this is applied, the better the savings – in cost and carbon.
We bring transparency to the energy usage of your assets through building management systems and digital monitoring.
Planned maintenance ensures your mechanical and electrical equipment remains at its most efficient, which in turn limits energy usage and long-term costs. We will also work with you to devise and implement a sustainability strategy for your assets, from initial analysis to installation of energy-saving equipment, such as solar panels, biomass boilers and water-saving taps.
Cost effective innovation
We installed 1,625 photovoltaic panels at the MoD facility at Worthy Down last year. They produce 410,000kWh of electricity and save almost £58,000 per year.
We also have plans to identify and trial different solutions to cut whole-life operational carbon across on-site operations, and to promote low-emission vehicles.
