Sustainability and green
Over 90% of the 212,846.60 tonnes of material which was excavated was diverted from landfill. Of which over 48,386m3 of the spoil was used to remediate redundant gasholder sites.
An energy education centre was set up on site with over 10,000 students attending over the duration of the project. This initiative was led by National Grid.
