Located right in the heart of Scotland, Stirling has a thriving economy. Its strategic and accessible location, along with exceptional quality of life, has helped it to attract new residents, businesses and visitors.
The area is looked after by Stirling Council, a local authority covering almost 2,200 square kilometres with a population of around 87,000. The diversity of the Council’s properties and the dynamic growth in the region means it requires its supply partners to be flexible, to understand the needs of the area, and take innovative approaches to issues.
As with all local authorities, Stirling Council is constantly seeking ways to get the best value for money on all services bought by the council and to continuously improve the procurement process to minimise the administration.
Skanska has been able to provide solutions to all of these needs and is currently contracted to look after the maintenance and servicing of boilers, plant room equipment, ventilation and air conditioning plant in public buildings in the Stirling Council property portfolio. The contract also covers the servicing and inspection of kitchen gas, mechanical and ventilation plant and equipment.
This includes repairs and a 24-hour emergency call-out service in addition to planned maintenance.
A key part of ensuring transparency and cost efficiency is using Skanska’s technology to ensure value for money. A computer aided facility management (CAFM) system gives Stirling Council access to real time data, allowing issues to be identified and analysed before they develop into costly problems.
